From The Delivery Room Where I name names, slap the buttocks of some who appear to be lifeless, and give credit, when credit is due, in the attempt to bring better Alabama government to life. Right now is the time Alabamians should be making an effort to help get Initiative and Referendum (I&R) legislation passed so that if it’s necessary voters can initiate REAL reform and accountability legislation if the legislature continues to refuse to pass it. Under I&R such legislation would bypass both the legislature and the governor and be put on a ballot for Alabamians to accept or reject. For several years I’ve called upon media, many individuals - some of whom have recognizable names and some of whom are just ordinary citizens, and several state officials, seeking their assistance in helping to make Alabama the 25th Initiative and Referendum state. What follows is a summary of some of the results from of those efforts. I literally barraged about a dozen each of radio stations and newspapers, asking them to inform the public that an opportunity was at hand to turn our government into one of, by, and for the people by influencing the legislature into giving the voters - who own and pay for our state government - a real voice for the first time in how OUR government operates, by passing an Initiative and Referendum (I&R) constitutional amendment. As far as I can determine media has not responded to any great extent. Media has devoted very little ink or air time to informing the public about how I&R can lead to a better government, while at the same time complaining loudly about how our government fails to serve the interests of Alabamians. I’m aware that the “RussnDee” radio program in Birmingham had I&R scheduled for discussion on at least one program. “Don Markwell’s Viewpoint” program (www.1170wacv.com/cms/) did devote considerable time to I&R. Kelley McGinley had me on her internet show, “Retaking America”, as a guest once but, apparently, only so she could attempt to belittle the potential good to be derived from I&R. I approached several individuals with name recognition, hoping one of them would either lead the effort to obtain I&R for Alabamians, or would help locate someone who would. Those contacts resulted in either no response at all, or a negative response. Among those: Governor Riley, Lieutenant Governor Baxley, the former candidate for the Republican nominee for Governor – Tim James, John Giles, and Leland Whaley. *****************

Doctor I Q
Most deplorable was the lack of response to requests for information from Governor Riley (or his office) and Representatives Ken Guin, Joseph Mitchell and Blayne Galliher, all members of the Constitutions and Elections committee which supposedly was taking action on I&R bills that had been introduced in the House of Representatives. Most difficult to fathom, was the lack or response from Representative Galliher, who, after all, was a co-author of one of those bills, HB 88. ********************
